Fixing All Issues with Your Wacom Tablet and Photoshop

36

If you have a Wacom tablet and you’re using Photoshop, you might have run into issues and problems. In this troubleshooting video, we show you how to fix the most common issues with your Wacom tablet. Below you can also find the specific steps:

Issues:
– Drawing left and right works, but up and down will move your canvas
– Pen pressure is messed up
– Windows ink creates lag
– Additional lag because of a click bug

Turning off windows Ink fixes most issues in Photoshop, but you lose pressure sensitivity.
Photoshop relies on Windows Ink for that 🙁

1.
Create new text document

2.
Write:
UseSystemStylus 0

3.
Save as:
PSUserConfig.txt

4.
Go to:
C:UsersYOUR-USERAppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Photoshop CC 20xxAdobe Photoshop CC 20xx Settings

4.5
If you can’t find the AppData folder, Enable hidden items in the explorer

5.
Still having issues, you can now disable windows ink
This is different for intuos and Cintiq
Intuos is under mapping
Cintiq is under calibrate

6.
Get rid of additional bloat: Go to Pen Settings for Windows and turn off anything with Windows Ink

  2. Thanks for mentioning the Windows Pen Settings panel. I thought I could do everything through the Wacom Control Panel, but it was driving me crazy that I couldn't sign a lot of documents in browsers and other non-pressure-sensitive apps.

  3. thanks for this!, all this time i was trying to figure out why even with windows ink it wasn't doing anything. but this now makes more sense.

and I found out after this video that it was windows ink that was making it so i couldn't zoom in and out in photoshop on my tablet….

  4. it's 2020 and now, I have a little cons to this. If you do the "alt + right click + hover" shortcut to resize pen, that one freezes when after doing this psconfig thing. Though I know only few people uses the shortcut but do you happen to know any solution for this one?

  5. Thanks for this.
Turning off "Windows Ink" makes it impossible for me to use the pen in OneNote. Do you have a solution for that? Or is the only option is to turn "Windows Ink" on and off every time?

  6. Thank you!! Totally fixed my issues with pen buttons! I'd like to point out though, as someone else said in the comments as well: the file has to be named without the .txt to work. The readable instructions under the video tell otherwise which could confuse someone (like me at first), so just pointing out. (wasn't too hard to find the fix in the comments anyway and it seems you've already noticed the comment as well, so not a big problem really) Thanks again!!!

  8. I've tried most the commons methods but it isn't working. I have a wacom 16 on a windows 10 computer and I use clip studio. The pen pressure hasn't been working for a few days and I tried restarting the computer multiple times along with other methods. I think the problem is with the clip studio paint driver but I don't know how to fix it.
